"Never measure your journey by someone else's destination."
This concept became clear to me when I got an amazing summer internship. I'd been upset for weeks because I saw everyone else getting great opportunities and I was disappointed in myself for not getting the same kinds of offers.
Here's the trouble with that: I was evaluating my journey based on my peers' end results. I didn't see their late nights, rejection letters, or near-panic attacks. All I saw were the great things they'd achieved.
The bottom line is this: your journey is your own. You will end up where you are supposed to be. No one looks like what they've been through because you can't possibly know the decisions, opportunities, roadblocks and trials that led them to where they are. All you know is the journey you've endured -- make decisions based on what you know, and what you can control.
Measure your destination by your own journey.
